POCONO ARTS HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS
Pocono Arts will host three holiday workshops for your enjoyment. Join us to create unique wreaths; centerpieces; and decorations to help you make your home a festive gathering place; give as gifts to family & friends or to adorn Holiday gifts. The instructor for all three workshops is Susan Field. All materials will be supplied.
Tuition for each workshop is $20 for members; $25 for non-members and $15 for seniors.
Cost of materials is $20 per person.

“Scaring Up Some Halloween Fun” Tuesday, October 12 – 6-9pm
Join us to create “spooky” crafts to help you decorate your home for the Halloween season.

“Harvesting a Crafty Thanksgiving Tuesday, November 9 – 6-9pm
Create a beautiful wreath for your door or a lovely centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table!

Oil Painting
Workshop September 8, 2pm – 6pm
This workshop will guide you through the essential steps necessary to create your own beautiful oil on canvas.
Instructor: Jill Swersie has been painting for twenty years. Her whimsical and colorful paintings of people and animals appeal to many as do her traditional still life and landscape paintings. Jill has been teaching for fifteen years.
Tuition: Member $35/Non-Member $45/Seniors $25

Watercolor Workshop
September 15, Wednesday 1-5pm
This workshop is for all levels of students. Fundamental drawing skills will be utilized to sketch on cold press watercolor paper, which will be the basis for painting projects.
Instructor: Will Daskal is a retired educator as well as an award winning fine artist. For the past three years he has studied at the Baum School of Art in Allentown with William Wentz and Dana Van Horn. Will loves to paint and more importantly loves to teach!

Using Modern Canvas to Paint in Acrylic
September 22, Wednesday 6-9pm
In this workshop a modern wraparound- canvas will be used to create a still life or landscape (depending on the size of the canvas you choose) ready for hanging…no need to frame the piece. A drawing will be provided to trace, if needed.
Instructor: Jasmine Abrams has been painting and drawing since childhood. She studied Art and Advertising at New York City Technical College; fine art at the School of Visual Art and the Art Students League of NY.

Mixed Media
September 29, Wednesday 1-5pm
This workshop will focus on utilizing a variety of painting materials, methods and approaches. Watercolor, gouache, acrylics, colored watercolor pencils, etc. will be used to meet the individual needs of each student in creating a unique and interesting work of art. Students may use photographs, reproductions of other paintings or set up their own still life. All levels of skill are welcome!
Instructor: Will Daskal is a retired educator as well as an award winning artist who simply loves to paint and teach. For the past three years he has studies at the Baum School of Art in Allentown with William Wentz and Dana Van Horn. Last summer he was honored with first place in Watercolor at both the Courthouse Square Show and Buck Hills Art Festival.

Oil Painting
4 weeks, September 9-30, Thursday 6- 9pm
This is an ongoing workshop starting with the basics, drawing and composition, and continuing through the preparation of materials and application of paint. Work at your own pace, picking your subject while the instructor guides you through the process of producing a piece of art.
Instructor: John McAllister is a graduate of York Academy of Arts and works as a freelance artist and videographer.

Intermediate Watercolor
4 weeks, October 4-25, Monday 6-9pm
This workshop is for anyone who has had at least one basic watercolor class. Students will explore the transparent nature of watercolor and how to make the white of the paper shine through. Unique techniques will be utilized making it easy to produce a glowing, luminescent painting.

Whether you are a beginner, an oil painting hobbyist, or a more experienced artist, this class will guide you through all of the essential steps necessary to create your own beautiful oil on canvas. You will choose your subject, work at your own pace and with your own hands-on experience learn about color, shadows and technique as you create your work of art.
Instructor: Jill Swersie has been painting for twenty years. She has participated in scores of shows and exhibits and has earned numerous awards, For the past fifteen years Jill has been teaching to adults at the Senior Center in Dunmore and the Buck Hill Art Association.

Acrylic Painting on Mini Canvas
4 weeks, October 5-26, Tuesday 6-8pm
Paint miniature works of art using acrylic paint on small 4x4 canvas panels or mini canvas in two different sizes, 2x3 and 2x2. You will have an unlimited amount of supplies to use as well as sample pictures from the Masters, i.e, Monet, VanGogh and Degas. You can also bring your own photos and make your own masterpiece! These pieces are wonderful for use as ornaments, gift decorations, etc. All materials will be provided.
Instructor: Jasmine Abrams has been painting and drawing since childhood. She studied art and advertising at New York City Technical College; fine art at the School of Visual Art and the Art Students League of NY. Her artwork is inspired by nature making her watercolors vibrant and bold with color. She has received numerous awards in NYC and the Poconos.

Basic Drawing
4 weeks, October 6-27, Wednesday 6- 8pm
Develop your basic drawing skills while learning about light, form and composition.
Instructor: Jill Swersie has painted professionally for twenty years. She has been teaching since 1993 at the Dunmore Senior Center, the Buck Hill Art Association in Buck Hill Falls and the Pocono Arts Council.

Glitter, metallic paint, stamps, templates, feathers, gems and much more will be used. Envelopes will be provided to make mailing easy. Bring along a lunch to enjoy.

Painting with Collage
Saturday, October 9 10am – 2pm
This workshop will concentrate on mixed media (acrylic paint and tissue paper.) Students will work in a very unstructured manner, exploring composition, technique and design.

Pastel Painting
Saturday, November 13 10am-2pm
Explore the use of soft pastels in a painterly fashion. This workshop is for the novice as well as the advanced artist.

About the Artist
Iraina Caramelli is an accomplished artist with over 30 years of teaching experience working in a variety of media including watercolor, mixed media, pen & ink, acrylic and pastels. Iraina studied at Pratt Institute and graduated from Parsons School of Design. She continues to create, teach and exhibit locally and in New York City . |
